Day 154 - mystery wildflower

On the steep, winding drive into Sequoia National Park, we pulled over to look at the showy yucca in bloom. While standing at the lookout of the wildly flowing river (what a spring this is for the steams, creeks, rivers and waterfalls in the Sierra Nevada!), I happened to notice these wildflowers. Anyone know what they're called?

I have no idea what these flowers are called although they do look like some type of a lily, sorta. They are amazingly beautiful Sherry, another great shot!

Wow, that was an exhaustive search. It's a Mariposa Lily or calochortus. What's slightly interesting is it's in the same genus as the globe lily (fairy lanterns).

Took me forever to find it.
Well, not quite forever. But still. It was fun solving the puzzle.

Thanks, darlin.

Janell - Yaay, you! How funny that this flower is related to Fairy Lanterns. They are both so beautiful to me. Thanks for the research you did to solve the mystery.
