Day 31 - a year for fungi

It was a beautiful day today. The sun was out and the temperature it made it up into the low 60s. This meant it was time to catch up on yard work. Every time I'm futzing around in the yard, I find a huge, get-a-load-of-this mushroom. There have been quite a few but none as orange and with large ruffles. Quite the specimen.

What an interesting angle, great photo! I love the colors, it reminds me of autumn.

Wow...this is really great! How the heck did you get that shot? You must have been nose to nose with the mushroom :-)

That is beautiful. I have not seen any down this way that look like that though I stopped on the way to work today to photo some.

Darlin - I thought it was left over fall leaves at first.

Cheryl - I had to do some manuevering (very glad no one was around to watch). I figure if Janell can lay on her driveway to get a shot of a banana slug, I can play twister with camera in hand.

Janell - I'm wondering when the best time is to look for smurfs. With all these fantastic toadstools you gotta think they've moved into the neighborhood.
