Monarch migration waystation

We hadn't been in our new house for long, before we noticed it was blessed with butterflies, especially around the trailing lantana. It's part of the plan that's taking shape to have an abundance of butterfly friendly plants in the backyard.

Lantana is a winner here in southern California too. It not only attracts butterflies but also holds up well with relatively little water, which is increasingly important as we've slipped back into drought.

I admire its toughness. It can handle freezing weather and extremely hot and humid conditions. Doesn't seem to have pest problems and the deer leave it alone. Winner! Sorry to hear about the drought looming in southern California. Right before we moved from northern California, we had been in a pretty long drought. The new normal? Hopefully not.
